Hind High Vaccum Pvt Limited (HHV) has signed a Joint Venture Partnership MOU with Canada based Solar Source Corp (SSC) to build Canada’s first amorphous silicon (thin film) solar panel manufacturing facility to be based at Summerside, Prince Edward Island (PEI). The facility with a total capacity of 120 Megawatts (MW) is planned in four phases with the first phase being 30 MW. Besides the thin film solar panel manufacturing facility, the JV MOU also proposes a 120 MW crystalline silicon solar panel manufacturing facility in Ontario. This would also be done in four phases. The total investment is estimated to be USD 24 million with Canadian government and its agencies providing a support of USD 30 million.
Ross Beatty, President of SSC was pleased at the association, especially with the levels of excellencies and efficiency that HHV brings with its four decades of experience as India’s vacuum technology equipment leader.
Jamie Ballem, Director of SSC and the former Minister of Energy for PEI stated that the benefits of this association will be growth in employment of managers, skilled and unskilled workers, an opportunity for recent graduates of ‘green’ technology programs to be employed in their home provinces, providing an alternative and diversified opportunity for the expansion from traditional sectors and contributing toward self-sufficiency of energy needs. The phase 1 is expected to generate 120 full time employments in PEI and 150 full time employments in Ontario.
Prasanth Sakhamuri, Managing Director, HHV stated that they were pleased to be associated with SSC. With the growth of North American solar industry this partnership will provide lead to various product innovations and provide leadership and education to the market.
HHV will provide total solutions including system optimization and customized design options. HHV will also provide hands – on training for technology transfer solutions, both on site in Canada and at the Bangalore manufacturing and research facilities.
