Saurabh Sen, Co- Chairman of Astonfield Renewable Resources Limited (ARRL) has been awarded with Udyog Rattan Award whereas the company received the Excellence Award for making the promise of renewable resources a reality in India and Africa. The award ceremony was held at India Habitat Centre on October 8, 2009 where the Institute of Economic Studies (IES) held a Seminar on “Economic Development”.
Conferred with Udyog Rattan Award, Mr Saurabh Sen expressed to media that he is very pleased and humbled to receive the award from such a well-respected entity. He along with the team at Astonfield has worked tirelessly to make utility-scale renewable energy power projects a reality in India though they still have a long way to go.
Astonfield Renewable Resources Limited (ARRL) was formed in 2005 with the mission to develop projects that generate incremental power and increase the capacity of the national power grids in rapidly developing regions such as the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Africa. Recently, in the month of July Astonfield entered into the 60:40 joint venture with AREVA Renewables to develop 100Mw of biomass power plant across the country in a phased manner and the first phase of this power plant will come up in Gangapur, North Bengal. In addition to this, company’s 5Mw solar PV project is in underway at Bankura, West Bengal and company is expecting to get second allocation for another 5Mw project in Purulia (West Bengal)
